National Commerce
From 60K orders/month on a broken spreadsheet to 150K on a real system.
Where National Commerce was stuck
National Commerce specializes in Amazon fulfillment for hazmat, dangerous, meltable, and oversized goods — categories Amazon won't handle itself. Sean started with a Google Sheet that worked fine at small volumes but broke daily once they hit 60K orders per month. The sheet had 150,000+ lines of data, 8-10 supplementary sheets with VLOOKUPs, charts, and API feeds, and was held together with shoestring. Building on mud, as Sean put it.
What we built
We rebuilt National Commerce's entire operational infrastructure on a real relational database in Airtable. We got them completely off Google Sheets. We built a customer-facing portal for real-time order visibility, internal dashboards for warehouse operations, and forecasting and analytics. The architecture was designed specifically for the peak meltable season (April 15 - October 15) when volume spikes, and for scaling to multi-client commercial use as a SaaS offering.
What happened next
National Commerce scaled from 60K to 150K orders per month on the new system — and is projected to process 1 million orders in the upcoming 6 months. The infrastructure handles 10x current volume without straining. The system Sean runs his business on is now being developed into a SaaS product to serve other fulfillment operators with similar needs. What started as "help me fix my Google sheet" became "let me spin this into a full software business."
“Our volume has doubled as a result of the systems OpsKings put in place. We're processing 150,000 orders a month now — up from 60,000 when we started. I went from building a business on a pile of mud to building on concrete. Now we can put doors, windows, and a roof on top of this thing and it's not going to crumble.”
